Record Prescriptions, Vitamins or Herbal Supplements

The HealthKeeper was designed to track prescription and non-prescription medications and vitamins and herbal supplements. This tracking feature also helps to remind you to take these health aids.

When you combine this feature with your feedback entries in your HealthKeeper Progress Tracker journals that address how you are responding to these health aids, you now have another powerful tool for assisting you and your health care professionals in tracking your results and progress.

Although most medications or herbal supplements do not contain nutrients, you will still be able to track if and when you took them in the text printouts of your Health Recorder.

  1. Open the pantry. You can also click on any button throughout the program with a green plus on it.

If you do this second option, skip #2 below.

  2. Click on the Add New Food button in the pantry.

  3. When the Add New Food Wizard opens, fill in the name, serving size, gram amount and calorie entry fields. These are the MINIMUM 4 fields that must be filled in for you to record your health aids with the recording feature of your HealthKeeper. If you do not have the grams and calories or it is not applicable, always enter zero. If one of the 4 fields is blank, the medication, vitamin and herbal supplement feature will not work.

Use the following example and quick-find tips to help you with this special recording feature.

At the beginning of the name field, type in the name of the medicine, vitamin or herbal supplement (i.e. Thyroxin, GNC Mega Vitamins, etc.).

  1. Enter a serving size, i.e., 300 milligrams, 1 pill, 1 teaspoon, etc.

  2. Enter the calorie amount if applicable i.e. (almost all medications and herbal supplements have none, so enter 0). You must either enter a calorie amount or 0 to proceed.

  3. Enter the gram amount if known, or if not applicable, enter 0 because this field also cannot be left blank. Fill in any other applicable nutrition fields you like. All you MUST fill in is the 4 fields mentioned above.

  4. Record your medications, vitamins or herbal supplements onto the Health Recorder as you would with any other food item as described in the Intake Tracker help.

Note: The time of day you take these health aids will be estimated by the meal time you selected in the Intake Tracker.

  1. To review and print what you have taken, click the right mouse button OVER the Health Recorder section of the Intake Tracker and select File images/HealthKeeper00090000.gif Print/Reports images/HealthKeeper00090000.gif Nutrition Intake Summary.
