Adjusting Your Dietary Calorie Intake as Your Program Progresses
There are many reasons you may want to regularly adjust your daily calorie
intake up or down during your program:
- Your activity level may have changed from slightly active to highly active.
- If you are dieting for weight loss or gain, you may be under-recording or
under-estimating the portions that you eat.
- Your metabolism may be slowing the longer you are on the diet or your
metabolism may just be slower or faster than the norm.
- Your weight changed significantly.
- You may have reached your weight loss or weight gain goal and now may be
ready for your maintenance calorie intake program.
- You are not reaching your weight or body fat percentage targets as quickly as
you would like.
No matter what the reason, all you need to do is re-set the weight calculator
of your personal profile using the feedback from your current weight and body
fat percentage results. Adjust this feature in the weight calculator area by:
a. lowering or raising your target or actual weight (P.4),
b. raising or lowering your activity level estimates settings (P.2),
c. adjusting your pounds per week change box (P.4)
If you change any of the above, your ideal calorie intake will be adjusted
automatically to compensate for one or more of the above factors.
NOTE: If you are dieting for weight loss or gain and are not experiencing the
results you expect, assess your expectations to make sure they are reasonable,
and adjust your calorie intake level every 2-3 weeks.
Critical Health Warning: Never begin or use any diet program at less than a
1,000 calorie a day intake without a doctor’s approval and supervision. Diets below 1,000 calories in some individuals
have caused death or disability.
