Add New Food Feature

This mode helps you add any new foods that are not already in the program. It includes an “Add New Foods” entry (as well as an “Edit New Food” and “Delete New Food” entry).

Clicking on the green plus button in any mode of the program,

or clicking on the Add New Food button in the pantry,

displays an “Add New Foods” wizard to guide you. This wizard also permits you to build your own Nutrition Facts food labels.

If you can find any nutritional information for a food you want to add, all you have to do is fill in the Add New Food pop-up wizard by inputting the information directly into the form. Please note: all fields marked with an asterisk (*) must be filled in but you do not have to enter all the food’s ingredients at this time. You can come back later and edit the food.

Click on the image below for more information on that section or read the instructions below.

The wizard automatically converts Nutrition Facts Label amounts or percentages into bars.

Nutritional information should be taken directly from the Nutrition Facts food label information sequence on the food packaging or other nutritional information and entered in the same sequence into the wizard. All you have to do is copy all the Nutrition Facts label information into the wizard. If there is no information for any nutrient or fields ALWAYS enter a 0. You do not have to fill in the ingredients box at this time. You can come back and edit the food later.

Information about the fat, carbohydrate and protein groups is entered on page 2 of the wizard.

Information about the vitamin and mineral contents of the food is entered on page 3 of the wizard.

NOTE: The disabled and grayed-out fields are for future and advanced versions of the HealthKeeper program.

When all fields are completed on the last of the three Add New Food wizard screens, click the button labeled “Make Label.”

You will notice that the graphic on the left side has been replaced with an exact duplicate of the Nutrition Facts food label with 1 exception. The label now includes the NutriCode bars near the bottom and the entries in the label are all color coded to match the NutriCode bars. If you like, print out the food label by clicking the button labeled “Print Label”.

After you close the last screen, the new food you have just entered will now be in the Pantry under “New Foods.” You can now record this new food to your Intake Tracker whenever you consume this food item. After the first time you record it, it will also show up in your Favorite Foods list in the Pantry and at the top of the food search drop-down box in the Intake Tracker.

Edit New Food

This will pop up the wizard again. In the editing mode, you can change or update any field in the wizard. After you have made all your changes, be sure to click the Save & Exit or Finish button or your changes will be lost. In the Edit New Food feature in the Pantry, the information you get back in the new foods database and the print label feature will be only as accurate as what you enter.

When in the editing mode, clicking the button labeled Cancel will exit the wizard without saving changes.

Delete New Food

To delete a food, click on “Delete Selected Food” in the pantry or click on the food in the table of the pantry and right-click with your mouse.

Print New Food as a Nutrition Facts Label

After you have completed the Add New Foods Wizard, click Finish and then Print Label.
